As I write this, summer is almost over and school is about to start up for the fall. But here in Texas, it basically feels like summer all year round except for maybe 2 weeks in January. That's probably why I've fallen in love with decorating in whites and blues, which just scream coastal, summery vibes all year long. Before the summer gets away from us, I thought I'd share a quick tour of the living room, all decked out for summer.
I like to keep major pieces neutral: the couch, coffee table, wall color, and rug are all neutral, which means I can easily change up looks for the season. Right now, I'm loving summery blues. The Joshua 24:15 sign is from Magnolia.
I picked up the woven basket at Home Goods, and it holds all our remotes and a simple white faux flower arrangement, which I also found at Home Goods.
This white coffee table was one of the first purchases I ever made when I decided to move out of my parents' home into my first apartment. I picked it up at a resale shop for $40, and later, my husband helped me paint it white. It was previously an orange-y oak color.
Those ticking stripe pillow on the far right was a recent find from Home Goods, and of course, the scales are from Magnolia. The other two pillows are from eBay.
A rare look at our TV stand. I purchased this from Home Goods years ago (is there anything in my house NOT from Home Goods?!?!) and gave it a makeover with chalk paint. I found the botanical prints free online, printed them, and hung them in frames I found at Ross. I seriously love these frames, y'all, and can't get enough.
As you make your way around the living room, you come to my absolute favorite corner in the house. I love to sit here in the evenings, after it's quiet and everyone has gone to bed, and cozy up with a good book, or just catch up on Instagram. I blogged all about this perfect coastal farmhouse chair HERE.
Another view of this cozy spot.
As you make your way around the room (the cozy chair is just to the left of this shot), you come upon the fireplace--which has always been one of my favorite places to decorate in the house). The ottoman goes to the chair, and can usually be found either directly in front of the chair or here, in front of the fireplace. It doubles as perfect extra seating when you need some!
I love the patina on this bluish gray box holding wheat grass. The blues and greens just add to the summery vibe of this room. The candlesticks are from Hobby Lobby. LOVE!
And there you have it, friends. A glimpse of the living room, all decked out for summer. Since fall is quickly approaching us, no guarantees at how long it will stay this way! When I get the decorating itch, literally nothing is safe.
So what's your favorite part of this room? I'd love to hear in the comments below or catch me on Instagram!
